OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Project Architect / Project Manager to lead the design and coordination of complex architectural projects with a strong emphasis on Cinematic Theater Environments. This role requires a highly organized, technically skilled, and communicative professional who can manage clients, staff, consultants, and project deliverables from concept through construction.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with design sensitivity, excels in a collaborative team environment, and brings proven experience delivering specialized entertainment or theater projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Management
Lead projects from initial concept through construction administration, ensuring design excellence, technical accuracy, and schedule adherence.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining clear priorities and timelines.
Oversee internal project teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and quality review.
Cinematic Theater Design Expertise
Lead and coordinate specialized design elements unique to cinematic and theatrical environments, such as auditorium layout, sightlines, acoustics, projection technology, seating systems, and audience experience.
Collaborate with specialty consultants (A/V, acoustics, lighting, theater planners) to integrate technical systems seamlessly into architectural designs.
Client & Consultant Communication
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear communication, design presentations, and progress updates.
Facilitate coordination among multidisciplinary engineering teams and external consultants.
Represent the firm in both on-site and off-site meetings, including client workshops, construction meetings, and consultant coordination sessions.
Technical & Documentation Responsibilities
Develop and review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Ensure all design solutions meet building codes, zoning regulations, and project requirements.
Coordinate construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, punch lists, and contractor communication.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with internal leadership to support project planning, resource management, and firm standards.
Promote a positive, productive, and supportive studio culture through daily in-office collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
10–15 years of professional architectural experience, with at least 5 years focused on cinematic theater or entertainment-related design.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
Professional architectural license preferred (or active pursuit).
Strong technical proficiency in Revit and related design/documentation tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication, presentation, and client-management skills.
Ability to work full-time on-site and attend meetings at client and project locations as needed.
Preferred
Experience with high-end entertainment venues, performing arts centers, or similar specialized environments.
Knowledge of acoustics, AV systems, projection technology, and theater seating standards.
Experience coordinating with international or large-scale project teams.
